OMG! If I never go to another children’s birthday party it will be TOO SOON!
Today, I had to take my lovely little girl to TWO birthday parties. One was a swim party. It was rainy and cold. The pool was indoors. It was a freaking sauna in there! After 2 hours of swimming, presents, and cake, I had sweated so much my clean hair was dirty and clumpy. That party started at 1pm. We left a few minutes before 3.
The second party was WAY across town from us, and took almost an hour to drive to. It started at 4pm and was a Fancy Nancy Tea Party. We left a nasty pool thing and had to go to a dress up thing. We were decidedly under-dressed and obviously less fresh than the other guests. This party was a bit much for me. I am a little tiny bit high-strung. There were approximately 20 children at this party. Isn’t there a “one guest per year of age” thing? This child turned 4! I was ready to snatch my greasy sweaty hair out before it was over.
The first party was for some school friends. I don’t know most of those parents well. I did have a decent time though. A couple of the Dads were funny and very chatty and I did know 3 of the Moms on a slightly better than speaking-to basis.
The second party was for the daughter of one of my husband’s college friends. I love these people. My husband had some really great friends in college. One or two aren’t all that, but the others are fantastic. We keep in contact all the time. I love the guys and their wives. But this was just too much. Too many kids, too much noise, too much stress after already going to a party earlier.
I need a nap something fierce. I am going to go to bed early tonight. No staying up waiting for my husband. He’ll be away playing D&D with some work friends and won’t get home until 1am. I am going to try and change my sleep schedule enough to be awake during the daytime without too much effort. So, I am aiming for 11pm tonight. I need a lot of sleep. 9 or 10 hours. So, 11pm should let me be wide awake tomorrow well before Noon.
