I joined a coolness thingy a few days ago. It is called a Read-a-Thon. the general goal is to read as much as possible during a specified 24 hour period. The one I joined is called Dewey’s Read-a-Thon and it was started a few years ago by a woman who has since passed away. Unfortunately, I have a scheduled set of time during the 24 hour period of Dewey’s RaT when I already have company coming. So, as much as it saddens me, I will not be able to read for 24 hours straight. But, OMG, the possibility just causes shivers!
This RaT is on April 18, 2009. It seems to start at 1pm GMT. I am east coast, so I think that means 8am for me. I can totally get up at 8am and read until close to Noon. My company is scheduled from Noon to 6pm, so at 6 I can start reading again and go through the night until 8am. Depends on if I get too tired and fall asleep.
I am already anticipating this day so much! I have started thinking about what I want to read. I am setting aside a few books to think about. Maybe something exciting for one, maybe an historical fiction for another, maybe a young adult book I haven’t gotten to yet, *shrug* I don’t know. I could try to combine it with two challenges I have going right now. Reading all the Newberys and reading all the Pulitzers. I could pick one of each and make sure to read those that day. The prospects are so huge! I can mentally envision a stack of books waiting for me beside the chair. Books I not only want to read, but will be compelled to read! “Sorry, honey. You’ll have to make dinner tonight. I just have to read for the next 9 hours.”

I really wanted to post one of the cute button graphics they have. But I am not tech-savvy enough to do that…
