What oh what have I been up to? Class stuff and game stuff for the most part.
My class requires us to attend three live performances. I have already fulfilled two of those earlier in the semester. This Friday I fulfilled the third. Hubby and I went to Dad’s Garage. It is a local improvisational theatre. We went with another couple and had dinner first. It was fun and lovely. The show we saw was called “Scandal”. It is the on-going soap opera type story of a small circus based in Little Five Points. It was very funny. Very politically incorrect. Very improvised. Very off color. There was a bearded lady who was pregnant by the fifteen year old clown on stilts. The was a wheelchair bound veterinarian who was posing as a people doctor. The was the roadie who was having an affair with the bearded lady and had an obsession with his own wrench. There was a lot of stuff going on. It wasn’t really my preferred style of humor. But I could not help but laugh through most of it.
Saturday night I went to a non-geeky gaming night at our friends house up the street. The intent was for a bunch of people to come and bring their favorite games that were not geek-specific games. So, no D&D, no Munchkin, no Frag, no WoW, stuff like that. Only, me and one other guest were all that showed. So we only had four people total. Plus, the other guest didn’t even bring a game! We ended up playing a few rounds of Apples and Apples. It was very fun and very funny and we all laughed our asses off. Then we played the game I brought, Quiddler. It is my favorite game ever. It is like a cross between Gin and Scrabble. It isn’t funny, and it isn’t even always fun if you aren’t a good speller or good at thinking up words. But I loved playing it. After that we played Guillotine. It is a card game of the French Revolution. You get points based on which nobles end up in your stack after being beheaded. Not a creepy or gross game, cute pictures and no violence. I quite enjoy it too.
Sunday we played D&D. My oldest was the Dungeon Master for the game. it was his first time in that role. He did a pretty good job. He stumbles over word pronunciation a lot. It was sometimes amusing and sometimes irritating. Besides me and Hubby, two guys that he plays with a lot were there and one guy that is a good friend of Hubby’s. There was a lot of laughter. There were a few close calls when the monsters almost killed us. It took ages to finish. D&D always takes at least 4 hours to play. After D&D we went out to dinner.
My two wee ones are both away at sleep-away camp. They are so big! I feel lonely without them. But I like having them gone too. I get to do whatever I want for hours on end. My oldest is more than big enough to fend for himself all day. I can sleep in. I don’t have to provide mommy-entertainment. I don’t have to watch terrible crappy tv shows. I don’t have to play Pokemon or break up fights. But my babies are away and I can’t hug them. I can’t talk to them. I don’t get to tuck them in and kiss them goodnight. I can’t tell them how much I love them and how proud I am of them. I can’t tell them how smart and attractive they are. *sigh*
