It is all finally over! The wretched class from hell had its final exam today (Monday) and I am done with that crap. If I never get near a theater or arts class again, it’ll still be too damned soon!
Plus? The kids are going back to school on Monday the 3rd! Yea me!! I will be so glad to have the little monsters out of the house. The little ones fight like cats and dogs. Except on a larger scale that is maybe more like tigers and wolves. The teenager gets more sullen and obnoxious every single day. It is all I can do not to slap him most of the time. *eyeroll* Everything at our house is so the drama!
Tuesday we have a play date at the pool with one of my daughter’s friends and her mom and sister. Wednesday we are going to the zoo with my friend up the street and her little girl. Thursday we have the open house at the elementary school so we can find out who the kids have for teachers this year. Friday I think I am going to my sister’s to visit, but I am not sure about that. Saturday is my teen’s 16th birthday party. Sunday I plan to vegetate. Monday I send them all off on the buses and have some peace and quiet for a change!
Last Saturday, I got together with my friend up the street, Jenn and two other girlfriends, one of whom is Chou. We drank a little bit. Not my usual choice for entertainment, but once in awhile a little bit is okay. We also watched 4 episodes of a show called True Blood. It is a cable tv series based on a book series by Charlaine Harris. About a girl named Sookie Stackhouseand her adventures in Louisiana in a world where Vampires are real and live in the public view now. I read the books, actually. They weren’t bad. Pretty entertaining and fairly well written. Fluff, over all, but worth the time. Since I read fast and can read a book that size in one day, it was certainly worth the time. but the show leaves a bit to be desired. I didn’t care for most of the casting. This is where I get into the whole peevy thing I have about books being made into movies. Generally, I hate movies based on books. But really, just on books I have read. If I wait and read a book after the movie, I can usually like a movie and then just love the book much more. But seeing something on screen that I have already read and imagined on my own just sucks. Since I had been drinking that night, it made it harder for me to separate the book and the show in my brain enough to enjoy the show. I like the storyline, but the characters just took me out of it in almost every scene. *more eyeroll*
This Saturday, 2 days ago? I went with some friends to see the newest Harry Potter movie. I enjoyed the first 6 books in that series. I hated the 7th book, the final one. But, I hadn’t read the 6th book in 3 or 4 years, so seeing the movie wasn’t too bad. The casting in those is always really well done. The look and feel of the movies is always exquisite and I love watching them. As long as I haven’t read the books recently. So, that was pretty good. The left out a lot of stuff, of course. And I wonder how they will reconcile some of that in the next movies. But, I guess the author is heavily involved and will figure out how to skim over stuff that seemed important but no longer even exists.
I know I have been neglecting this blog a really lot all summer. I am hoping to get better about that 🙂 I have a few posts in mind that I am slowly planning out. I need to get cracking on them though. Now that that horrible theater class is over, I might have time for something I enjoy for a change. Like writing, or maybe reading! That would be cool too. I am off to sleep now. Hopefully. I am still having some insomnia trouble. Not as bad as a couple months ago, but irritating nonetheless. I should really not be awake at 2am writing this post!
