I had a test today in Geography. I remembered it was going to be today around 10:30 last night. *sigh* I hate when the test is a surprise. I think I probably made another B on this one. China and plate tectonic stuff. The place names of East Asia are tough, but not quite as impossible as the Russian ones were.
My daughter was feeling poorly yesterday. She said her throat hurt and she had a sinus headache. By bedtime, she was feverish. But, then I recalled this test today, so I could blow off class. My husband had to stay home from work with her. I am back home now and she has an appointment to see the pediatrician this afternoon. Most likely it is just post-nasal allergy related nonsense. But it could be a sinus infection or strep, so we will pay for the visit to be sure.
I had my group meeting for the Latin Group Project at 11am. Except my partner didn’t show. I was there from 11am until noon waiting. When I left at noon, I called my husband and he said she had called the house at 11:40 to say she was sick. Since there is no cell reception inside any of the buildings on campus, she probably called me several times before calling the house. I did some research while I was there though, so not really a waste of time. I just wish I had done the research at home instead. Since this is preliminary work, I just made a list of questions to answer. The usual stuff, who what when where why how. I made some notes for each question as a jumping off point for figuring out what to put in the Powerpoint. I also looked up a few images to use. the assassination of Caesar is at least interesting. I had a pretty good time reading about it 🙂
Did I mention we got another fish? We are up to five! Four goldfish and a beta. Since we have a five-people family, I am putting my foot down against more fish. While I was at the writer convention, hubby took the kids to get a fish to replace the one that died back in June. So, we have a bunch of freaking fish now. They are pretty easy to take care of though. Once I got the water situated, I haven’t had any more worries with them. The kids keep asking if they can rename the fish, too. HOW ANNOYING The stupid things don’t really need names because they don’t answer or come when called or anything. But we decided on names and changing them would just be irritating. I think I feel passionately about this. No changing the names.
My teen is failing Latin II. He failed the second semester of Latin I last spring. I was surprised they let him start Latin II at all. Now he isn’t doing well in this either. He claims the teacher doesn’t like him and grades him accordingly. but i know that a lot of Latin is doing translations and his handwriting is completely illegible. The teacher can’t possibly tell if he is spelling things correctly or using the proper declension or whatever. The boy is stubborn though and refuses to take responsibility. I wonder if there is a Latin translation for “Do you want fries with that”?
