So, I am still terribly disappointed about the stupid American History class and the test score therein.
I took the Geography test today and I feel pretty good about it. I am apparently CRAP at judging how well I do on tests though, so I may have done poorly. *shrug* It certainly felt familiar when I was reading the questions though. Latin went well. Learning about 3rd declension nouns and indirect statements. Also, watching a film from the History Channel about Rome. We have seen two parts so far, I think it is 90 minutes total and we are seeing 30 minutes at the time. Roman roads, Claudius, aqueducts, Nero, his pleasure palace, the Coliseum, and the switch from inheriting to fighting for the position of Emperor. So far, so good. Fun and interesting stuff.
I got sidetracked with the charity stuff. I didn’t get down to the basement at all on Saturday or Sunday. Then, Sunday night, they called to remind me that my pick-up was scheduled for today! So, I put all 6 bags out on the front walk for them. I wish it had been more. I really thought the pick-up was later in the month. Maybe I can get myself into the mindset again and manage to pack up a bag a day even without a scheduled pick-up. I can just store them along the wall in the basement until I can take them to a drop-off point or I get another pick-up call. We still have way too much junk.
My daughter is turning 8 on the 14th. She is my baby. It is hard to believe sometimes that she is so big. She wants Legos and Webkins for her birthday. And she always wants Arts&Crafts stuff. She loves to cut and paste and color and paint and staple and glue and fold and whatever else kids can do that is artsy. I did not get the art-gene. My mother draws and paints. My closest sister paints. My youngest sister paints and photographs, she may draw as well. I can only draw ball gowns. Not much call for that. Even in the fashion industry, ball gowns are not that big a market. I love that she has that artistic bent though. She has already told me that she wants to go to Art College when she finishes regular school. My nine year-old wants to be a waiter. My teenager is currently working his way towards a fast-food position. It is good that at least one of my kids has some ambition!
Babygirl stayed home from school today. She woke up at 5:30 this morning throwing up in her bed. I got her all cleaned up and tucked her in with us. I changed all her bedding and stuff, of course. Hubby stayed home from work today and watched her. She threw up again around Noon. *sigh* I don’t know about today, but yesterday she didn’t eat more than 8 or 10 bites of food all day long. She is only vomiting liquids at this stage. And she isn’t drinking enough. Little kids dehydrate too easily and I need to start nagging her into drinking more. She just isn’t going to do it voluntarily. Hubby scheduled her an appointment with the pediatrician at 2:30 this afternoon. Since I don’t get home until 2:10 to 2:15, he drove her there. They are there right now. I’ll update this post when he gets home with her and tells me what the doctor says.
