I finally got the new schedule for my teenager today. His failure of Latin I, part 2 and Latin II, part 1 means that he is not taking Latin II, part 2. He is retaking Latin I part 2 instead.
Have I mentioned that he really didn’t want to retake this class? I am sure I must have. So he came home today and told me that he will on purpose fail every class in high school if I “force” him to retake this class. When I said that he really had no choice, since he failed it, he has to retake it. He then said he would just not go to school anymore. I told him that the law says he has to until he is 18 or I sign papers allowing him to quit earlier. Then he said “Well, what if I just don’t live to 18?”
Now my husband is checking our health insurance for a therapist in our network. I am not letting him out of the room with me. He says I don’t care what he wants and never listen to him. I think I do listen. And I know I do care. I can’t change the fact that he failed the class. I can’t change the fact that he has to retake the class. He is very angry and quite uncommunicative.
I am at my wit’s end.
