Wow. I started this blog back in March 2009. I had been at LiveJournal for several years. I had let myself get too involved in fandom and the journalling part had fallen to the wayside. So, I had stopped using LiveJournal. I wasn’t confidant enough to go back there and start afresh. I was afraid of alienating fandom folks. I wasn’t sure anyone would care to read any bloggy type posts. I needed a place to start working through things though. So, I hunted up a free blogging site.
This is a WordPress blog. I like it. Not only is it free, it is easy and looks decent. I started posting stuff about my past and crappy childhood stuff. I wrote about my current life and stuff I was struggling with. But, I still had that LiveJournal over on the side, neglected. I felt bad about it. So, I decided to cross-post. All the entries that I make here are copied and pasted into my LiveJournal. I made new friends there and left behind some old fandoms.
I have had the LiveJournal for a lot longer than the WordPress. And yet, I have been much more prolific since starting this Wimbittworld blog. Before Wimbittworld, I only had about 400 entries at LiveJournal. From July 2004 until March 2009. But in less than one year I have 200 more entries due to starting this blog.
I love keeping a blog. Some days it is difficult. I do not always feel like I have anything worth saying. Some days I think everything I say is useless. I do not have a large following. I think I only have one or two regular readers who are not already a LiveJournal friend or a family member. I am no Dooce or Finslippy. I am insecure and most likely unreliable. But I have really appreciated having the opportunity to get things off my chest and get bad stuff out of me and into the ether of the no-man’s land of the Interwebs.
Not to denigrate anyone else, but my sister and TwistedSusan are the two people who really keep me posting at this blog. So, I wanted to take this 200th entry opportunity to shout out a Thank You to the two of them. And, I promise, I’ll try to update regularly!
In other news, it snowed yesterday in the greater Atlanta area. The kids had an early release from school, too. So the wee ones came home at noon and the teenager at 1pm. Today, there isn’t any school at all. The little ones had a great time playing outside in the pitiful little snow we have. We own a lot of cold-weather clothing and paraphernalia, but almost all of it seems to have migrated to Nana’s house. Everytime she takes the kids and hubby to go ski, she keeps a little bit more of our stuff. We couldn’t find any kid sized gloves at all. The children switched between no gloves and using hubby’s gloves, which are enormously too big. A lot of the snowpants are at her house too. So the kids pants got soaked and they had to change in order to keep playing. My friend up the street came down with her daughter and the children all made snowballs and laughed and rolled around.
I imagine today will be much the same.
