Saturday afternoon, I went to visit my sister. She is 26 or 27 weeks into her pregnancy now. She is cranky. I am so glad it is her and not me! Her tummy is really showing now, too. No way to miss the pregnant aspect. Can’t pass it off as a weight gain or anything.
My two smaller kids and my nephew played outside in the remains of the snow most of the afternoon. My teenager stayed home. He had gone Friday night to a sleepover teenager birthday party. So, he was tired and whiney from too many video games and not enough sleep.
My sister and I went out to the Kroger, I mentioned that yesterday. Didn’t buy much, mostly milk and fruit. It was kind of nice to get out of the house for a bit and to be away from the kids for a while. A little later, we to eat at Waffle House. I know! Against the rules a little, but not too badly. I had chili and a grilled cheese sandwich.
My sister noticed that my little boy’s shoes were tearing up. His sole was detaching. I looked at them and they definitely needed replacing. I checked my daughter’s and hers did too! So we stopped at Target after dinner and got them new tennis shoes. The boy’s are Venom (the blacksuited Spider-man thing) and the girl’s are Hello Kitty. Very cute! And, not too expensive.
Back at the house, we watched Better Than Sex. A David Wenham movie that I quite like. The tag line is “Three days in the life of a one night stand”. It is kind of a character study of a couple that hook up at a party. And she loaned me Julie & Julia! Hubby and I had wanted to see it back in the summer, but never got around to it.
I am actually quite relieved that school will start tomorrow. The kids and the husband had a vacation starting Dec 19. Hubby went back to work on Jan 4 and only worked 2 days there. The kids went back to school on the 5th and only went there for 2.5 days. Then we had snow and they have all been home since. I will be so glad to have some frakking time apart from them all. I wanted a nice long break while I was between semesters. But I had a huge fiasco with the teenager my first week off and then they have all been home. I expected to have this week mostly to myself to regroup and get into a school-type frame of mind. No such luck. So, I will be happy to get to school tomorrow and have some time where no one talks to me constantly or wants my attention.
