Today I did my .6 mile walk again. I expected it to be better than the previous ones. This is the fourth one, after all. But it is still hard. The walk has a good bit of uphill and downhill. When I do it, I get winded and sweaty. And my legs hurt. Mostly the front of my leg. The lower part between the ankle and knee. Just to the outside edge of the shin bone. Not really the bone, and not the knee or ankle themselves. The pain is a kind of burning. And by the time I get near my house again, it is excruciating. I can barely make those last 100 steps or so.
I gave birth to three children. Without an epidural. I should be able to withstand some leg pain. And, technically, I do withstand it. I mean, I do finish the walk and come home. I don’t stop and rest at the curb or anything. But this is very painful and when it is happening, it seems nigh unbearable.
Is it something I can do anything about? Special pre-walk stretches? Different shoes? Anything?
